Ashley initially reached out to me last winter during the first peak of the pandemic. She was planning to have a small wedding in the spring and was in need of a photographer. Soon after we connected, the pandemic became even more unpredictable and she and Aaron put the breaks on planning so they could figure out their plans for a safe wedding. They ultimately settled an October wedding in Minneapolis and hosted an intimate ceremony before celebrating the night away with friends and family at a local brewery.

We met Aaron and Ashley in a park near their hotel for their first look. The weather was better than anyone could have expected in mid-October. The sun brought out the golden hues that were starting to pop in the leaves creating the ultimate backdrop for wedding photos.

After we wrapped up photos for the first look, it was time to head to the wedding venue. Everyone was parked in the hotel parking ramp and we walked through a Comicon Convention in the main part of the hotel. It made for a fun walk as we navigated through the people wearing their most intricate costumes.

The wedding ceremony was held at the Golden Valley Historical Society Museum. The small, 1880s era church was just the right size for Ashely and Aaron’s family. The ceremony was filled with laughter and sweet moments between the couple and their families.

Following the ceremony, we returned to the park for some family photos and for golden hour photos.
Then, the three of us walked with Aaron’s dad to Lakes & Legends Brewing Company for the reception. The brewery closed its doors to the public for the night and welcomed in Aaron and Ashley’s close friends and family. Guests mingled by the bar while they waited for their beer, played hammershlagen and giant Jenga, and watched as Ashley and Aaron’s slideshow scrolled across the screen.

The night wrapped up with the sweetest speeches from their dads followed by a lively dance floor.
