A few months ago, I blogged about Dea and Matt’s adorable engagement session at Amnicon Falls State Park just outside of Superior, Wisconsin. This was a great way for us to get to know each other ahead of their wedding in Hudson, Wisconsin.
We started the day with a ceremony at Prospect Park in Hudson which overlooks the downtown area and the St. Croix River. Dea and Matt are such a sweet couple who had the most intimate wedding day with their closest friends and family. The ceremony was personalized with a family member officiating for them.
After the ceremony, we headed to their home a few blocks away to celebrate with family and friends. The event was catered by Old Southern BBQ, a local restaurant to Hudson that has roots with the original Famous Dave family. They were set up for a great evening of fun with yard games, a tent, and music. As they visited with their guests, people mingled with each other and everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves. Their home is just a few blocks from Matt’s childhood home in a quiet neighborhood nestled at the outskirts of the historic homes in Hudson.
We snuck away for golden hour photos on the cloudy summer day and captured photos from a beautiful spot that showcases views of treetops along Hudson’s Lake Mallalieu. As we walked between locations, we discussed our love for the Great British Baking Show. This seemed to be a theme among couples this year. Somehow, most of my couples ended up referencing the show and we bonded over the binge-worthy British TV show.
We left them as Dea’s younger sister tore up the dance floor and Matt and his groomsmen enjoyed cigars with his dad. The day was as laid back as Dea and Matt and it was nothing short of perfect.
