If you know a Minnesota or Wisconsin photographer or follow one on social media, you probably know that busy season is in everyone’s favorite time of the year: fall. It is truly the perfect time for a session because it is still warm enough to enjoy being outside, the colors are beautiful, and everyone just wants to soak up all of the cozy fall vibes before it’s too late. So, it’s no surprise that it has taken me months to write this blog. Better late than never, right?

Morgen and Monty had the most beautiful sunrise photo session in October just outside of Stillwater. We met at one of my favorite locations just as the sun started to come up during peak fall color. While the sun was not super bright during our session, it was letting off just enough golden tones to really highlight the beautiful colors in the prairie.

After we wrapped up pictures here, we headed to downtown Stillwater where we took photos in some of the iconic places downtown. From the lift bridge to the beautiful historic buildings, we captured some really fun moments. The best part was that these two were willing to have their session in the morning. We practically had downtown Stillwater all to ourselves. It was one of my favorite Sunday mornings this fall.

Morgen and Monty met while they were in college at Hamline University in the Twin Cities. Both of them were college athletes and graduated during the pandemic and were not able to walk across the stage. However, they decided to dress up in their caps and gowns and head to campus to take some photos. What Morgen didn’t realize was that Monty was planning to propose. During their photos, Monty got down on one knee and asked Morgen to marry her.

Their wedding is just a few months away and I am so excited to capture their wedding day. Their wedding will be in Ellsworth, Wisconsin at the Barn at Jean Acres. This couple is so sweet and they are some of the nicest people I have ever worked with. I am so thankful that this work allows me to get to know such amazing people.
