Avery and Matt have terrible luck with the weather. When I spoke to them the first time, Avery told me a story about going to the North Shore and experiencing frigid windchills and 30+ MPH winds during their visit.
When they decided that they should split their engagement session up into two parts, one with a studio session, I thought that would be a great idea. When the day of their session finally came, I was downright nervous that we would have extreme winds again along with downpours.
We decided to try it anyway and headed to one of my favorite Stillwater area locations equipped with umbrellas. Despite the rain, the location was as gorgeous as always with a totally different feel as the clouds rolled in.
The outdoor portion of their engagement session started with some light rain making for some spectacularly moody photos under the umbrella before it lightened up just in time for us to get almost back to the car. And then, DOWNPOUR. I have never been so thankful for a raincoat before!
After we made it back to our dry cars, we all headed over to Hive House Studio in Downtown Stillwater for some reprieve from the rain. The studio has countless backdrops that fits with the vibe that Avery and Matt were going for during their session and it made for a perfect morning in the studio.
Here’s to hoping that their wedding day will have perfect September weather since they’ve had their share of less than ideal weather scenarios throughout their engagement.
