I am so excited to share today's story with you because I absolutely love proposals and get so excited whenever I can witness them.

George reached out to me with a plan to propose to his girlfriend on the eve of their 8th anniversary. They attended college at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and their first date was at Pier 500 in Hudson. They’ve since moved to the Milwaukee area but they made plans to celebrate their anniversary where they met all those years ago. George wanted to do the proposal at Lakefront Park in Hudson before their dinner reservation. Little did we know that we were in store for one of the windiest spring days we’ve had all year.

One of the most memorable parts of this day will always be the wind. My second shooter and I arrived early so we could make sure that we could get all of the angles we needed. After we got situated, we sat down nearby and quickly realized that this wind was intense and COLD! We huddled behind a nearby porta-potty to get a break from the wind while we waited for George and Kendal’s arrival. It was so windy that the door to the porta-potty whipped open, almost hitting us.

Somehow, George convinced Kendal to take the long walk down to the end of the dike. He had her face the river and he took a picture of her and then he got down on one knee. I was impressed that my second shooter and I were able to remain relatively unnoticed allowing us to get lots of photos as the moment unfolded.

After George put the ring on, Kendal realized that we had been photographing the whole thing. We quickly learned that these two are some of the sweetest people and it was so much fun capturing some special photos to commemorate their engagement.

I am so happy that George trusted me to photograph this day. Congratulations on your engagement, George and Kendal!
